Couple in NY found guilty of slavery

A couple in New York was just found guilty of counts of modern day slavery. The couple, 35-year old Varsha Mahender Sabhnani, and 51-year old Mahender Murlidhar Sabhnani, were both born in India, but are U.S. citizens. They were found guilty of 12 counts and could face up to 40 years in prison.

 

They were accused of holding two Indonesian women hostage in their home, after bringing them to the U.S. with a promise of paying them $200 per month for housekeeping services. The two women were subjected to horrible conditions, and reported that they were forced to undergo a variety of severe punishments for wrong doings by the couple. The Indonesian women also stated that their passports had been withheld from them.

Gosh!! Thats a similar story to one of the young girls i fostered. 2 Asian Doctors came to the UK. Brought a 15 year old under a false passport and kept her locked in the home as /slave/nanny/plus sexual services!!!!!!!!!!! The escaped the country as soon as she got away.
