A man in Largo, Florida was arrested after he called 911 to report that he was “surrounded by police officers and needed help.”

The police had been called to a local bar because of a disturbance, but upon arrival they did not find any problems, and had told the man to move along. One police officer at the scene stated that the officers stood there ‘scratching their heads’ as the man called 911 right in front of them.

The 38-year-old man, who was apparently intoxicated, was charged with misuse of 911, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of “one year in jail and
